$340M Solar Project to Provide Clean Energy for Top Las Vegas Casinos

Las Vegas is known for its glitz, glamour, and incessant energy demands. In a groundbreaking move, Estuary Power has secured $340 million in funding for its pioneering Escape Solar and Storage project in Lincoln County, Nevada. This ambitious endeavor, which began construction in late 2024, is slated to start delivering clean energy by 2025. The Escape project is set to be a game-changer, combining 185 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic capacity with 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage, ensuring a steady and sustainable supply of green energy. Major Nevada customers, including MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment, Wynn Las Vegas, and Overton Power District, are on board, signifying a major shift towards renewable energy within the gaming industry.

This solar initiative is not just about sustainability; it’s about economic rejuvenation as well. Spanning 900 acres, the facility will host 389,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels, capable of capturing sunlight from both sides to enhance productivity. Top-tier companies like JinkoSolar and Tesla are providing advanced technology, from high-tech panels to state-of-the-art battery storage systems. Construction efforts are led by Bechtel Infrastructure and Power Corporation, with Dashiell Corporation overseeing substation and transmission upgrades. The project is expected to inject $80 million in tax revenue into Lincoln County and create jobs for union workers, including members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Laborers’ International Union of North America, fostering a sense of community investment and long-term economic stability.
