Starting July 17, a landmark of the Las Vegas Strip, The Mirage casino, operated by Hard Rock International, is preparing to close its doors for major transformations. The Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) has proactively stepped in to support the 3,350 employees affected by the shutdown. Through its Rapid Response Program, DETR is providing a safety net of services to help those laid off transition smoothly into new employment opportunities or entrepreneurial endeavors.

DETR’s Director, Christopher Sewell, emphasized the department’s commitment to tailoring support for Mirage workers, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance during this challenging period. The DETR initiatives include workshops, job fairs, and information sessions designed to equip employees with the skills needed for new job opportunities. The comprehensive support package also covers budget planning, advice on alternative health coverage, and vocational training, delivered both physically and virtually to address diverse needs.
