One notable concern is the lack of pre-approval for sports betting advertisements. Seventeen ads were found lacking the state-mandated problem gambling helpline information and were misdirected to individuals under 21 and those struggling with gambling addiction, marking clear rule violations. Advocates for responsible gambling warn that these oversights risk targeting vulnerable populations with aggressive marketing tactics.

The audit also cast a critical eye on the GameSense program, designed to aid those at risk of gambling-related harm. Alarmingly, half of the program’s agents had no documented evidence of completing the necessary training.
