Florida investigators recently executed a major sting operation against a vast illegal gambling network based in Jacksonville. This extensive network operated across at least 10 locations, offering various games of chance such as online games, fish tables, and fire links. The establishments included 5354 Verna Boulevard, 4547 Shirley Avenue, 5331 Lenox Avenue, 1513 Lane Avenue, 734 Edgewood Avenue North, 5045 Soutel Drive, 4006 North Main Street, 8014 Lem Turner Road, 4578 Blanding Boulevard, and 6530 San Juan Avenue. Upon raiding these sites, authorities confiscated 263 gambling devices and seized approximately $2.5 million in cash, alongside 15 vehicles valued at $1.7 million. Law enforcement also secured two houses and various luxury jewelry and watches.

The extensive investigation humorously dubbed “Operation Fish & Chips,” due to the presence of fish games, had been ongoing for some time and strategically dismantled the ring. The sites were notorious for incidents, reporting 26 assaults and eight robberies, one of which tragically resulted in the death of a security guard in October. The gambling ring not only ran physical operations but also managed numerous accounts with banks and credit unions, making it a complex case with estimates suggesting holdings in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The chief suspects, R. R. A. and G. A., are believed to have been the masterminds behind the operation. R. R. A. was also reported to have attempted to legitimize their earnings by laundering them through regular casinos and even had aspirations of running for city council.
